Ingredients
2 lbs lean ground beef
2 cups chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped green or red sweet pepper
6 cloves garlic, minced
3 1/2 cups water
1 12-oz can tomato paste
1 15-oz can dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 15-oz can Great Northern Beans, rinsed and drained
1 14.5-oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
Instructions
1. In a 12-inch skillet cook ground beef, onions, sweet pepper, and garlic until meat is brown. Drain off fat.
2. Transfer meat mixture to a 4.5 to 6 quart slow cooker. In a medium bowl, stir together the water and tomato paste; pour over meat mixture in cooker. Stir in kidney beans, Great Northern Beans, tomatoes, mustard, chili powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, salt and cumin.
3. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 9 to 10 hours or on high-heat setting for 4 to 5 hours.
