Aztec Hot Chocolate - TastyPlanner.com
Spicy Hot Chocolate
1 2/3 cups whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 red chili pepper, split with seeds removed
1 cinnamon stick
1 cup Ghirardelli 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate chips
Simmer milk in a saucepan with vanilla extract, cinnamon stick and red chili pepper for about 5 minutes. Whisk in chocolate chips, and continue to simmer until melted. Remove from heat and steep for another 10 minutes. Strain out the spices and serve.
You may substitute several dried chilis in place of the fresh chili. Break off the top. Shake out the seeds to reduce the heat.
