Nut Filed Fillo Dough
Ingredients
1 lb Fillo Dough
1 lb walnuts
3 ½ Cups Sugar
1 lb butter
1 Tsp Lemon or ½ lemon
Instructions
a) Pre heat over to 275.
b) Take 1 lb Dough out of freezer 1 ½ hr before use.
c) Open ½ of the dough for usage.
d) Take two kitchen towels, slightly dampened and place open dough between them.
e) Melt 1 lb of Butter. When melted remove top layer and discard.
f) Place each sheet in a 9 × 13 inch pan buttering each one lightly until pack is finished.
Note: You may have trim excess or fold over to fit in pan.
g) Mix grounded walnuts and 1 cup sugar together and place on top of layered dough.
h) Open second pack of bough and place between towels.
i) Layer each sheet on top of nut mixture buttering each sheet as before.
j) When completed cut into squares but do not cut through entire bottom layer of dough.
k) Before adding to oven do the following;
l) Syrup; add 2 ½ cups sugar, 1 ½ cups water and lemon to a pot and bring to a boil. Let boil at lowest possible temperature during the entire cooking of the baklava.
m) Place baklava in over and cook 1 – 1 ½ hours or golden brown.
n) Remove from over and add ½ of the Syrup.
o) Let cool then finish cutting into squares.
