BBQ Chicken and Black Beans - TastyPlanner.com

This is my version of El Pollo Locos chicken and black beans. They are a fast food place so I think my slow version tastes a bit better even. They taste best in a corn or flour tortilla with some guacamole!

Ingredients
Cut up chicken pieces - or just the ones you like.
I get a mix of bone in breasts and legs for the kids
1 to 2 large oranges
1 cup sweet baby rays bbq sauce
salt and pepper
Black beans:
2 pounds canned black beans
2 Tbsp bacon grease (oil if you don't have it but it makes a difference!)
1/2 onion - diced
1 small yellow sweet pepper - diced (or red bell)
2 cloves garlic - diced
1/4 cup bbq sauce - sweet baby rays is my fav
1/4 tsp liquid smoke
2 Tbsp canes chipotles in adobe sauce - minced add more or less for heat
Instructions
Place chicken a large baking dish. Squeeze the juice from the oranges on top of the chicken. Add bbq sauce and salt and pepper. Toss to coat and bake at 275 for about 2 to 3 hours. You want it to almost fall off the bone but not quite.
Once it’s nearly falling off the bone you put it on a hot bbq to sear the outsides and give it bit of a fired up bbq taste.
Black beans:
In a pot heat up bacon grease over medium high heat and add onion, garlic, pepper and cook until tender or slightly transparent. Add remaining ingredients and summer for 15 minutes.
