This really is the best sugar cookie recipe you’ll find! The almond extract is the secret!

Ingredients
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 cup Shortening/butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp almond extract
3 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 cups flour
Instructions
Cream shortening (or butter, not margarine) and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix thoroughly. Beat in dry ingredients.
Roll out dow to 1/4" thick on floured board.
Bake at 375 degrees.
For soft cookies, bake only until bottom edge is BARELY brown (approximately 7 minutes). Cookies will still be quite white. For crispy cookies, bake longer (approximately 10 minutes)
