A tasty treat for all!
Ingredients
1 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup cold water
1/2 cup butter
2 tbsp yeast
4 eggs
7.5 cups flour
Instructions
1. Scald milk, add sugar, shortening, salt, and water.
2. In large bowl beat eggs until frothy and add milk mixture.
3. Add yeast to flour.
4. Mix wet and dry slowly (to make soft dough).
5. Rise as usual, roll out until about 1/4inch thick.
6. Cut into 3/4 inch strips. Twist, curl, and roll finger to put end under.
7. Bake 8 minutes or until lightly brown at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, ice while warm.
*Makes approx. 4 dozen butterhorns.
