Chinese 12345 Spareribs - TastyPlanner.com
Chef: Roofth
A Chinese spareribs recipe that I grew up eating at home. The name refers to the measured amounts of the ingredients listed in the recipe. My mom (along with millions of other Chinese moms and grandmothers out there) made this while I was growing up. Quick and easy, casual and homey. Part of a multi-course family meal.
Ingredients
2 lbs spareribs, each cut into thirds
1 Tbsp Chinese cooking wine (e.g. rice wine)
2 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp vinegar
4 Tbsp dark soy sauce (or can substitute with Chinese black bean sauce)
5 Tbsp water
Instructions
1.Heat a little bit of oil in a large skillet or saucepan, brown the spareribs.
2.Once the ribs are seared and browned, add the rest of the ingredients.
3.Mix well and bring to a boil.
4.Cover and reduce heat to medium-low (maintaining a gentle simmering).
5.Cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally. (Note: the last 5 minutes, I uncover the lid so the liquid/sauce would reduce down)
