you can make these with a cake mix or from scratch
Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening
1 2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
7 tablespoons cocoa
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped nuts (or other random goodies)
Instructions
Cream shortening, sugar, vanilla
Beat in eggs, cocoa, and butter
sift together remaining dry ingredients
add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk
add nuts, other random goodies
chill 3 hours (easier to roll, set better)
form into 1 inch balls and roll in powdered sugar
bake at 350 degrees on a greased cookie sheet for 10 minutes
makes 4 dozen cookies
If using a cake mix, just mix that with the eggs, milk, nuts/other goodies and about half the oil called for on the box, I believe.
