Easy Copycat Starbucks Vanilla Bottled Frappuccino - TastyPlanner.com
Chef: Samuel Mantravadi
This is inspired by Starbucks Bottled Vanilla Frappuccino, but I wanted to make my own so that I didn’t have to keep buying those addictive bottles of caffeine, and so I know everything that’s going into it, and so that I can reduce/eliminate the amount of sugar. I use Starbucks via instant coffee to keep the flavor, but you should be able to use any instant or bean-based coffee (or Espresso). Xanthan Gum or Pectin can be used to give the drink a creamier texture (Pectin is used in making jelly and is found in fruit)
Recipe Source: http://answers.yahoo.com/qu...
Ingredients
3 cups of water or 2 cups (if using espresso)
1 cup of espresso
3 cups of 2% milk (or skim if desired)
3 tbsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp sugar or sugar substitute (I used Splenda)
1 gram Xanthan Gum (used for texture) or 2 Tbsp dry Pectin (used in original recipe)
Instructions
1. Make strong coffee by double-brewing, use instant coffee, or dilute espresso with water.
2. Dilute coffee with milk.
3. Add sugar (or substitute) to mixture (preferably hot) and stir until well dissolved.
4. Add Xanthan gum (or pectin if desired) and stir (or blend using blender) until well mixed. If adding thickener, the resulting drink should have a creamy consistency. This gives the texture of cream with the fat of 2% milk!
4. Put into 5 used but washed Frappuccino bottles if desired for grab-and-go goodness.
