Egg in a Basket - TastyPlanner.com
Chef: Joanielspeak
This is an easy and fun breakfast that anyone can make and includes only 3 ingredients.
Ingredients
1 egg
1 slice of bread
1/2 tbsp of butter
Instructions
Cut a circle from the center of the slice of bread using an upside down glass or biscuit cutter. Butter both sides of the bread. Place in a hot skillet over low heat. Break an egg into the center hole. Cook until the egg is set, then turn and cook the other side. Serve sprinkled with salt and pepper.
Note: While your basket’s a-cookin’ you can toast your circular bread piece in the skillet or toaster oven.

I tried this and I love it. Quick and easy after the first time; awesome add.
Always a fun weekend breakfast.
Love It!
these are awesome
Great and easy. I took the middle bits of bread and made little cajun spiced french toast bits.
Double thumbs up.
Good stuff…nice and easy.
My mom used to make this when I was kid but she called it “Egg in a Nest”. She would shred some cheddar cheese on top too.
All time favorite!
I’ve been making this basic thing since, well, it’s the first thing I could cook. I make smaller holes and toss the hole into the pan with the rest. We call it Eggs in a Blanket (have heard it called Toad in a Hole too). I use a clean edged jigger to cut the holes, but I think I’ll try the bigger hole next time.
I love this one too! We always called it a more literal name..“Egg in Toast” :) I love this topped with salsa and sour cream.
For some reason my kids won’t eat this, but my husband and I LOVE it! My husband said his mom used to make this for him as a kids and he loved it then too!
