healthy pasta sauce for any dish

Ingredients
I chopped onion
I clove garlic, crushed
2 lean rashers of bacon (optional)
2 sticks celery
2 chopped courgettes
1 chopped red pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
1 Tin tomatoes
1 tbsp tomato paste
pinch sugar
black olives
i tbsp pesto
dried chilli seeds (optional)
Instructions
Gently fry onions, garlic, celery, bacon and pepper (and courgette if using) in the oil for about 5 mins until lightly browned. Add tomatoes, tomato paste and sugar and cook for another 5 mins. Add olives, pesto and chilli seeds and mix.
Can also add a dash of wine, some chopped sun-dried tomatoes, chopped cooked spinach or whatever else.
