Basic lasagna with lots of spice.
Ingredients
1 box oven-ready lasagna noodles
1 lb bulk sweet Italian sausage
2 jars marinara sauce
1 bay leaf
splash of Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup red wine
spash of hot sauce
1 t dried italian herbs
1 t crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 t cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
1 large tub ricotta cheese
1 t dried italian herbs
1/2 t garlic powder
1/2 t onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups shredded Italian four-cheese blend, divided
Instructions
1. Set oven according to lasagna noodle package directions.
2. Combine sauce, bay leaf, italian herbs, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, wine, salt, and pepper in a medium pot. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes.
3. Brown sausage over medium heat. Drain and set aside to cool.
4. Mix ricotta, 1 1/2 cups of cheese blend, dried herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and eggs.
5. Coat the bottom of a 13×9 inch pan with nonstick cooking spray. Ladle 1/3 cup sauce into the bottom of the pan. Cover with lasagna noodles. Spread 1/2 of ricotta mixture over the noodles. Cover with 1/2 of the sausage. Ladle sauce over top. Repeat layering. Top the last layer with lasagna noodles and sauce. Top with 1/2 cup of cheese blend.
6. Bake according to package directions.
