Left (Pickled Turnips)
Ingredients
5 lbs medium sized turnips
1 lb medium sized beats
vinegar
water
salt
Instructions
1) Wash & peel turnips and cut into quarters.
2) Place in jar covering each layer with salt.
Let stand over night:
3) Drain off water.
4) Wash & peel then quarter beets and put in one gallon jar.
5) Place turnips on top of beets. Pack solid
6) Put mixture of half water and half vinegar over them filling gallon until covered.
7) Close jar and wait until turnips turn red.
