Maple Sausage & Waffle Casserole - TastyPlanner.com

Delicious breakfast or brunch-my sister and her family have it for Christmas morning, but it’s great anytime! Be sure to make it the night before you need it!!

Ingredients
6-8 frozen waffles (1/2 in thick)
12 oz maple sausage, crumbled
1 1/2 c shredded cheddar
6 large eggs
1 1/4 c milk
1/4 c maple or pancake syrup
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
Instructions
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Lay waffles in single layer on baking sheet and bake until crisp (about 10 min per side)
Brown sausage, drain.
Butter an 8 in baking dish. Add 1/2 the waffles in single layer. Add 1/2 sausage and 1/2 c cheese. Whisk eggs, milk, syrup, salt & pepper together and pour over waffles & sausage.
Cover casserole with plastic wrap and using another dish with heavy cans, weigh down and refrigerate overnight. (be sure to leave the extra dish and cans on top all night).
Next day, preheat oven to 325 degrees. Let casserole come to room temp for 20 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
Bake until puffed 45-50 minutes.
Serve
