Marmee's Cabbage and Kielbasa - TastyPlanner.com
Chef: Robin Sampson
This main dish has been my family favorites for over 30 years. I sever it at least twice a month. My daughter now serve it to their families. I found the recipe in a home magazine when my oldest children were toddlers. I’ve adapted it since.
Ingredients
1 cabbage cut up
4 cups water
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 pound fully cooked kielbasa cut into 1/2-inch pieces, at a slant
6 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 large carrots, chopped
1 apple, peeled, cored and quartered
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
n a Dutch oven or soup kettle, saute the cabbage, onion and garlic in oil for 5 minutes or until tender. Combine water, vinegar and brown sugar; add to cabbage mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Yield: 8-10 servings.
