Papa John's Pizza Dough Recipe - TastyPlanner.com
Chef: Brennen Fisher
Do you love Papa John’s pizza? Many of us do – it has a distinctive taste and texture that most other restaurants and homemade pizzas just do not match. If you would like to make pizza that is very similar at home, this is the crust recipe for you. This dough recipe is about as close as you will get to real Papa John’s pizza dough at home.
Remember that you will need fast rising yeast for this recipe, rather than ordinary active dry yeast. Otherwise, you will not get the kind of results you would expect, and the dough will not end up being the right consistency. The dough can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen if you need to do so. However, make sure you bring it up to room temperature before baking.

3 cups flour
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons or one envelope fast rising yeast
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons oil
Combine 1 cup flour, sugar, yeast, and salt, blending well. Add oil and water gradually, until well moistened, and then stir until a smooth batter is created. Add additional flour by hand until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Turn out onto a floured surface and knead in more flour until a smooth, elastic dough is created. Cover loosely with plastic and allow to rest about fifteen minutes in a warm place.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Press dough into two twelve inch pizza pans and prick with a fork. Allow to rest for ten to fifteen minutes in a warm place.
Brush crusts with oil and prebake for five minutes.
Top as you wish, then bake again until crust is crisp and cheese is melted.
