Peach Cobbler - TastyPlanner.com
Chef: Rachel
This is my grandmother’s recipe for peach cobbler. It is easy to make, and you can use this recipe with other kinds of fruit, such as blackberries. The cobbler will have a thick, doughy crust on top.
I’m from Georgia where the best peaches come from, and this is my favorite basic cobbler recipe. I make one every week in the summer time!
Ingredients
1 stick of butter
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 egg
4-6 large peaches
nutmeg
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put the butter in a casserole dish and put it in the oven to melt while it preheats.
Mix flour, sugar, milk, and egg until batter is formed. Set aside.
Peel and slice peaches. The number of peaches you should use depends on how big they are. If they are extremely juicy you should drain them slightly as the cobbler can overflow out of the dish. I usually slice enough to cover the bottom of the casserole dish (you can modify this dessert slightly to serve more or less people). Also, it is fine to use frozen peaches, but you will want to thaw and drain them before baking the cobbler.
Take your dish out of the oven. Put your sliced peaches in there with the melted butter, and pour your batter on top. The batter will rise to the top and make a delicious crunchy crust! Before baking, sprinkle with nutmeg. If your cobbler is especially juicy, you might want to put the dish on top of a baking sheet to keep your oven clean.
Bake for 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cobbler is bubbling.
