Recipe Source: my mom <3
Ingredients
2 Large Cabbages
1 cup rice, uncooked
1 onion large, chopped
2 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
1 tbsp salt
2 10 oz cans tomato soup
1 8 oz cans sauerkraut
Instructions
Use your hands to mix all of this together!
Cook rice as per directions, cool so that its touchable.
Mix together Meat, onions, salt and rice. Add the rice a little at a time, some people like more in their piggies than others, so it depends on your preference.
(You can start this step while mixing the meat)
Core Cabbage and boil leaves until soft, they will start to fall off when they are done. The outer leaves of the cabbages will be the softest. Use them to line a glass pan. Put some on the side, you will use them to cover the top later.
Take handfuls of the meat mix, shape, and wrap in softened cabbage leaves. Place in pan, layering.
Mix together tomato soup, tomato sauce, sauerkraut, and 28 oz of water (1 can of water for each soup and sauerkraut can). Chop up leftover cabbage leaves(not the outer ones!) and spread over piggies. Pour tomato mix over that. Cover top with the leaves you puto n the side. Cover with foil or lid to pan.
Bake 350 f 1.5 – 2 hrs
*You can also combine the ground pork with ground veal or turkey. Try different things and see what works best for you!
