A Bengali style sweet spiced rice dish. Perfect with other mild vegetable or meat curries. The amounts of the ingredients are not important and should be adjusted to suit your taste.

Ingredients
1 cup basmati rice
a few whole cardamon pods
2 cinnamon sticks
a few whole cloves
a few whole bay leaves
a medium carrot cut into small cubes
handful of sultanas
red capsicum cubed as per carrot
2 Tbs butter
handful of frozen peas
2 cups of boiling water
1 tsp salt
1 TBS sugar
Instructions
Wash rice and dry with a towel.
In large saucepan melt margarine and fry rice dry for 5 minutes.
Add carrots and all spices and fry for another 5 minutes.
Add water, salt, and sugar. Bring to boil and then simmer until water is absorbed.
Add capsicum, peas and sultanas near end so as not to overcook.
