Slow Cooked Italian Beef Sandwiches - TastyPlanner.com

Italian seasoned beef hoagies with melted cheese. You can use optional topppings -sauteed mushrooms, red onions, red peppers. Yum!
Cook Time: Low for 10 to 12 hours, or High for 4 to 5 hours
Ingredients
3 cups beef broth
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon onion salt
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 bay leaf
2 packages dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
3 pound chuck roast
Instructions
1. Combine broth with salt, ground black pepper, oregano, basil, onion salt, parsley, garlic powder, bay leaf, and salad dressing mix in a saucepan. Stir well, and bring to a boil.
2. Place roast in slow cooker, and pour salad dressing mixture over the meat.
3. Cover and cook on Low for 10 to 12 hours, or on High for 4 to 5 hours. When done, remove bay leaf, and shred meat with a fork.
4. After shredding the beef, put it back in the crockpot to cook an additional half hour to soak in the juices.
5. Serve on toasted hoagie rolls with optional toppings. Then run the sandwiches under the broiler to melt the cheese.

I really enjoyed this recipe and so did my husband! I didn’t boil everything before hand- just threw it all in the crock pot- didn’t seem to matter. I prepared everything the night before I was planning on serving it, so in the morning all I had to do was throw the crock into the pot and go to work. It was great to come home to a nice, hot meal with no prep and little clean up! Thank you so much!
I enjoyed this as well. I did not boil the sauce…just dumped it all together. It was great.
