Peppers and onions add a fresh taste to this zippy sausage filling for sandwiches. My mother gave me this recipe. It’s simple to assemble and it’s gobbled up quickly. -Suzette Gessel

Ingredients
5 four ounce Italian sausages
1 med green pepper, cut in 1 inch pieces
1 large onion, cut in 1 inch pieces
8 oz) Tomato sauce
1/8 tsp pepper
6 hoagie buns
Instructions
In large skillet, brown sausage links over med heat. Cut into 1/2 in slices; place in 3 qt slow cooker. Stir in the green pepper, onion, tomato sauce and pepper.
Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours or until sausage is no longer pink and vegetables are tender. Serve on buns.
