Traditional Swedish Meatballs
(Köttbullar)
Ingredients
½ cup bread crumbs
½ cup light cream
½ cup water
½ cup ground beef
½ cup ground pork
2 tbsp. grated onion
1 ½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. ground allspice
1 egg lightly beaten
3 tbsp. butter
Instructions
1. Place breadcrumbs in a large bowl. Add cream and water. Mix and set aside to soften for 5 minutes.
2. Add beef, pork, onions, salt and allspice to separate bowl. Mix well, and then stir in egg and bread crumb mixture. Mix, taking care to make sure that all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated, then shape into 1” meatballs (loosely packed meatballs are more tender!)
3. Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches, turning frequently, until well browned (but not burnt), about 8 minutes each. Transfer to a platter and drizzle with sauce/gravy
