Teriyaki Pork Roast - TastyPlanner.com
Chef: Janenb
I found this recipe many years ago while searching the Internet. It’s now listed in many variation across multiple recipe web sites. A crock pot winner! The gravy is absolutely divine…. Serves 4-6. We have 4 people and I always have left overs for the next day.
Ingredients
4 lb pork roast
1/2 cup soy or teriyaki sauce (can also use stir fry or hosin sauce for a different flavor)
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons fresh ginger, fine chopped, or 1 tablespoon powdered
1 can frozen apple juice concentrate - do not thaw before use
1 teaspoon ground white or black pepper
2 tablespoons of corn starch
3 onions
Instructions
Slice onions into rings and place half on the bottom of the crock pot.Place the pork roast on top of the onions. Mix remaining ingredients well, including the frozen apple juice concentrate. Work quickly to keep the juice from melting. After mixing, the sauce should look rather “slushy.” Top the roast with the remaining onions. Pour sauce over the roast. Move the roast around a bit to ensure that liquid has surrounded the onions on the bottom of the crock pot.
Optional – when the roast is done, remove to a platter and keep warm. Mix the corn starch with cold water. Turn the crock pot to High and when the gravy is bubbling, slowly stir in some of the cold corn starch mixture. Look for the gravy to take on a nice sheen and thicken somewhat. Add a tablespoon at a time to monitor the sauce – too much will result in a flat or bland taste. Simmer the mixture to thicken.
Serve sliced pork and gravy over rice.
Cook on low 6-8 hours.
Serve with rice.
