Chicken Fried Steak with gravy and Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
4 Pieces of 1/2in thick top round steak
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 Cup buttermilk
olive oil
2 tbs flour
1 tsp black pepper
pinch cayenne pepper
1 1/2 Cup milk
chicken bouillon cubes
2 Pounds potatoes
4 Tbs butter
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup milk
Instructions
Cut potatoes into small pieces and cook in a large pot of water. Pound beef with a meat tenderizer until flattened and almost double in size. Place flour in a large bowl and season with salt and pepper. Place buttermilk in another bowel. Batter meat and fry in skillet with oil till meat is cooked all the way through. Drain all but 2 TBS of olis from skillet makeing sure to leave the meat and batter droping in the skillet. Add 2 TBS of flour and cook on low until the roux smells nutty. do not allow flour turn brown. Add black and cayenne pepper and stir in. Slowly add milk and stir untill starts to thicken. add bouillon cube and continue to stir till desired thickness. When done remove from heat and set aside. When potatos are tender remove water add butter, pepper, salt, and milk and mash. Serve.
