Delicious all by itself
Ingredients
1 cup raw wild rice
2 cups water or chicken broth
1 tsp salt
1/2 lb fresh mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup butter
2 tbs soy sauce
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp salt
pepper
1/2 cup chopped almonds
3 slices Bacon, Fried And Crumbled
1 can of water chestnuts
Instructions
Wash rice in hot water, I browned the rice ina dry fry pan before I cooked it. Cook rice in salt and water or use chicken broth to cook it. Cook for 30-40 minutes until it starts to break open and it is still chewy.
Saute mushrooms, celery and onions in butter. Combine the soy sauce, sour cream, salt and pepper. Add this to the cooked wild rice, add teh mushroom, celery and onion mixture. Add the bacon which has been fried and crumbled, add the almonds and chestnuts adn toss. Bake 1 hour at 350 degress uncovered. Stir several times during baking, add water if needed. Serves 6-8 fits a 9×13 pan.
